Adele’s new song Easy On Me has given fans a look into her inner thoughts and feelings following the breakdown of her marriage.
The musician has been candid how her divorce from Simon Konecki has inspired her new song – which is the BRIT school alumni’s first new release in six years – and by delving into the lyrics of the track she tells a lot about how she feels she is responsible for the union ending.
The 33-year-old bravely uncovers how she was lost in her marriage as she sings “There ain’t no room for things to change / When we are both so deeply stuck in our ways / You can’t deny how hard I have tried / I changed who I was to put you both first / But now I give up.”
She also suggests that she drowning whilst being wed to charity CEO Simon – with who she shares eight year old son Angelo – as she sings:” I know there is hope in these waters/ But I can’t bring myself to swim / When I am drownin’ in the silence.”
Adele also makes it clear how she did not want Simon to have any animosity towards her for making the decision to split in 2019 as she asks him to “go easy on me” in her lyrics for the new track.
The Tottenham native also blames being young and that she did not “get the chance” to “feel the world around me” in the deep song as a key reason to them calling it a day.
Mother of one Adele also goes on to add how she “changed” in order to put her eight-year-old son and Simon first.
She sings how it cannot be denied “how hard” she worked to try and salvage her marriage before adding “now I give up.”
In the song, she goes: “Go easy on me, baby, I was still a child.”
Adele has also given extra details into her life in recent years whilst taking part in several interviews in order to promote her music comeback.

As she spoke on Radio 1 Breakfast with Greg James, the star said: “I was making decisions in my life which have been well documented over the last few years.”
She added: “It was sort of that thing of initiating a discussion – not in the case of my son’s dad – or a massive bloody fight, which I definitely started some fights post my relationship.”
Adele concluded: “Normally I’m not very confrontational, but it was like, ‘Hang on a minute, bare with me while I try and find my feet in this situation’.”
Many had believed Adele to be married since 2016, but she recently revealed they didn’t wed until 2018 and Adele publicly filed for divorce in 2019.
The song is the first single to be released from her upcoming album called 30, which is set for release on November 19.
Before its release, the award-winning songstress from North London shared a detailed description about the emotional trauma that went into the brand new album.
She said: “I was certainly nowhere near where I’d hoped to be when I first started it nearly 3 years ago.
“Quite the opposite actually. I rely on routine and consistency to feel safe, I always have.
“And yet there I was knowingly – willingly even, throwing myself into a maze of absolute mess and inner turmoil!
“I’ve learned a lot of blistering home truths about myself along the way. I’ve shed many layers but also wrapped myself in new ones.”
