YouTube star Mel Thompson’s devastated husband took to social media to announce the shock news of his ‘beautiful’ wife’s tragic death.
The 35-year-old content creator and make-up artist, who regularly shared videos of cosmetic reviews and tutorials, sadly died on Sunday.
Her husband Puffin Thompson, who shares four children with Mel, confirmed the news of her death in a heartbreaking post on her Instagram page.
Sharing a series of sweet snaps of the social media star, showing her with family and friends, Puffin revealed she passed away over the weekend, but did not give any information about her cause of death.
“Mel sadly passed away yesterday. We lost a beautiful person,” he began, as he told her 57,000 followers that picking 10 photos to capture his wife’s life was “really hard”.
“I’ve had to answer so many texts of people just checking in on her without even knowing of her passing. It’s great to see how loved she was. And she loved all you right back. I’ll continue to love her and miss her forever,” Puffin continued.
He said she was “such a pillar for” their family, and shared his admiration for his wife’s unwavering love and support for her own family, despite battling unknown health problems that left her bedridden.
“And no matter how bad she felt, she would still rub my back when I came and jumped on the bed next to her while she was working tirelessly to put out content,” he added.
He said Mel, who amassed more than 169,000 subscribers to her YouTube channel, was a “talented” artist, and also a “truly wonderful” person.
“She would have done anything to help anyone without a second thought. I wish I had her back,” he concluded the emotional post.
Her heartbroken fans sent their condolences in the comments on the post, with one writing: “Nooooooooooo. Oh my goodness. Heartbreaking. She was my favorite. I got ready every single morning with her.”
“I’m shocked! So talented!! Loved to see all her content! Sending all her family lots of love,” another added. “Oh my god, I cannot believe this! She was the kindest most genuine creator. You could see how much she loved what she was doing and how talented she was,” a third wrote.
Mel’s last YouTube video was on 24 September, in which she tested products from make-up artist Wayne Goss’ collection.
Her last post on Instagram was from 20 September, in which she posted a selfie. “HAVE A HAPPY MONDAY, BEAUTIES,” she wrote.
While her husband has not revealed the cause of death, one of Mel’s followers commented on the post, and claimed the star had been diagnosed with a series of health problems, including Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which is a rare inherited condition that affects the body’s connective tissue.
“I actually was the one who told her I thought she had elhers danlos. She went to her dr and she was diagnosed with it. She talked about it on her channel. I’m not sure if that was a factor. I’m devastated,” a follower named Elizabeth Spencer wrote.
While another follower alluded to Mel’s ongoing health struggles, and said she was suffering from an unknown autoimmune disease.
“This is absolutely devastating news. I am so very sorry for your family. Mel and I used to chat about the autoimmune illnesses and knee replacement we both struggle with. She was so young. This is so awful. I’m so very sorry. My prayers are with you,” they wrote.
