They haven’t even hit the dancefloor yet and Strictly Come Dancing 2021 stars Tom Fletcher and Adam Peaty are already in trouble – for violating Instagram ’s ‘sexual activity’ code.
In a hilarious photograph during prep for their professional photos and first days on set, cheeky Tom and Adam shared a photo of themselves preparing for a spray tan.
Sporting some rather fetching shower caps and nothing else, McFly singer Tom covered up Olympic swimmer Tom’s crotch using his hand – revealing apart from a paper pair of pants, they were completely naked.
While the photograph was clearly in jest as they make the most of their excitement on joining the Strictly team, it seems Instagram was feeling a little less playful.
Within hours, the photograph was removed from the social media site under claims it violated their community guidelines regarding ‘sexual activity’.
A clearly shocked Adam later revealed why the pic had disappeared from people’s feeds, explaining on Instagram stories: “Great, removed for sexual activity,” alongside some laughing emojis.
“Mad how Instagram get to decide what I upload and what I don’t. Community guidelines should be your community.”
Undeterred, Adam later posted the photograph again – this time on Twitter – with the sarcastic caption: “It’s @bbcstrictly time! Hope this doesn’t get removed this time.”
Mike Bushell, who appeared on the 2019 series, gave the lads his seal of approval and joked: “Ha ha that takes me back. One of the best parts, the spray tan booths.”
Tom later shared a second photo of him topless holding up a paper thong after having his tan, declaring: “The Strictly spray tans have begun…and yes, I wore these @bbcstrictly.”
However, it’s not all fun and games behind the scenes, with Tom sharing a photo on Sunday morning of his feet already looking battered and taped up after a single day of rehearsals.
“One day of @bbcstrictly filming and my foot looks like this,” he shared. “Having too much fun to feel pain! Don’t miss the launch show on Saturday. Can’t wait to tell you who my partner is!”
This year’s series kicks off next Saturday, where the celebs and their pro dance partners will be revealed for the first time.
They will then perform their first group routine, officially marking the start of the competition.
Tom and Adam are competing against Corrie actress Katie McGlynn, Loose Women’s Judi Love, Dragons’ Den’s Sara Davies, comedian Robert Webb, BBC Breakfast’s Dan Walker and TV presenter Ugo Monye.
AJ Odudu, Eastenders’ Rose Ayling-Ellis, Bake Off’s John Whaite, CBBC’s Rhys Stephenson, Tilly Ramsey, actor Greg Wise and Nina Wadia complete this year’s line-up.
Strictly Come Dancing starts Saturday 18 September at 7.45pm on BBC One.
