Kerry Katona has been enjoying a much-needed break in a plush Cheshire hotel, as an inquest into the death of her ex-husband in 2019 was held earlier this week.
On Tuesday, it was confirmed that George Kay, who was married to the former Atomic Kitten singer between 2014 and 2017, died following crushing a ball of white powder inside a sock and “eating” the contents.
The 39-year-old was taken to hospital but sadly died due to the effects of the toxic substance.
At the inquest into his tragic passing, ex-wife Kerry was subjected to claims from the former rugby player’s family that she is partly responsible for his drug abuse.
Kerry is yet to comment on the claims.
It appears the 40-year-old decided to enjoy a pamper session relieve herself from some of the stress, as she took to social media on Wednesday to thank the hotel she recently stayed at.
“Thank you for a lovely stay @thetytheringtonclub it was very much needed,” the reality TV star captioned a post on Instagram to her 754,000 followers.
In the snap, a cute teddy bear wearing the hotel’s logo can be seen sitting on what is assumed to have been Kerry’s bed for the night.
The luxury Cheshire resort is home to a spa, golf course, gym and a restaurant overlooking tranquil views.
A weeknight stay in The Tytherington Club is around £130 per night for a double room, with prices rising to £169 per night on weekends.
The hotel’s website describes the venue as the perfect place “to improve your health, fitness and wellbeing” or “simply enjoy keeping yourself and your whole family relaxed, active and happy”.
Some relaxation is just what mum-of-five Kerry needs, following a hectic week in her personal life.
Following the inquest into George’s death, who was father to her seven-year-old daughter Dylan-Jorge, the late rugby player’s family suggested some of the blame for his passing laid with the reality TV star.
Speaking at the inquest, his late brother Ashley Kay claimed that George’s drug use “increased” during his marriage to Kerry.
He said: “We want to make clear that the drug taking period increased during his time with his wife and got significantly worse when they separated, due to the fact he was stopped from seeing his child.”
The I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! star claimed that their relationship broke down due to violence, and at the time of his death there was a restraining order in place to keep George away from the mum-of-five.
Kerry’s rep declined to comment when contacted by The Mirror.
In addition to the fall-out from the inquest, Kerry has also revealed this week that she has had to pull her teenage daughter out of school following cruel taunts from bullies.
Speaking in her OK! column this week, the Warrington born star told how she’s had to take action after Heidi Croft, 14, was badly picked on while attending school.
Discussing her daughter, who she shares with ex-husband Mark Croft, the former singer explained how her child had “got loads more s**t at school from some horrible boys.”
Deciding to take matters into her own hands, she explained: “I’ve decided I’m definitely taking her out of that school. Your schooldays are so important and it’s about investing in your future.”
