Our Yorkshire Farm star Amanda Owen has shown off a painful-looking black eye after she was “headbutted by a sheep” during a shearing session.
The telly star is a working farmer and regularly gets stuck in to all the duties that come along with the lifestyle.
She shared a picture of herself shearing a sheep over the weekend, and at the end of the video she’s shown with a nasty bruise over one eye.
Amanda admitted she’s been “out of action” adding it’s due to “to an occupational hazard”.
She captioned the clip: “Eat, sleep, sheep, repeat. (Part II)…
“*Actually I’ve been out of action…the very last frame might enlighten*is used to an occupational hazard or two.”
Amanda later shared a selfie with her sheepdog, sporting an obvious black eye as she put on a smile for the photograph.
Another picture showed her putting an ice pack on her injured face.
Amanda has been having a difficult time lately and she recently revealed she suffered sleepless nights as Covid destroyed her business.
She told The Mirror : “I know a lot of people will think ‘Well, not a lot has changed with your life as a shepherd’ and while it may seem like in the countryside, the pandemic is so very far away but that’s actually not the case.
“In the first instance, we have diversified as a farm and we are very reliant on tourists.
“The first six months of the year is very hands on with the sheep throughout the winter but, come the end of lambing season, we’re looking after people instead, shepherding tourists.
“Of course, that never happened last year – the people never came.”
As well as her own business, Amanda admits the stress of the pandemic and her family’s health also weighed heavy on her.
She added: “You worry about where all this is going?
“Having nine kids at home is not continuative with good sleep patterns, I can tell you. I mean, you’ve got all the issues with homeschooling and questioning yourself about what is going to happen to the world and whether you’re doing the right thing.
“Everybody has been affected. There are no two people that are alike and during this past year, there has been no blue print on how to cope and quite often, that manifests itself with sleepless nights.
“I’ve been laid there, doomscrolling and worrying about what the future held. It’s been terrible.”
