Megan Fox has admitted that comments she made at the 2009 Golden Globe Awards led to her ditching alcohol.
The actress, 35, said that her antics and comments that night “got her into trouble” so she gave up the booze.
The star made the confession while talking on the Who What Wear podcast where she was reflecting on different iconic outfits she had donned in years gone by.
At the 2009 Golden Globes, the Midnight in the Switchgrass actress wore a stunning gold ensemble, but landed herself in hot water following drunken remarks on the red carpet.
She told the podcast: “I was sat at a table with Blake Lively and all three Jonas Brothers.
“At the Golden Globes, they always put those giant bottles of Moët champagne on the table — I went through multiple glasses of that.”
“Now I don’t drink, and this is why: I was belligerent and said a bunch of s*** I shouldn’t have said on the red carpet after that.”
She continued: “I think I got in a lot of trouble for whatever I said on the red carpet at this event.
“I don’t remember why, but I know I did. You can look that up.”
During her red carpet conversation, Megan had touched upon “wanting” Salma Hayek’s “amazing and perfect” boobs before saying her then-boyfriend Brian Austin Green wasn’t in attendance because he’s a man and he “has an ego”.
She told Giuliana Rancic: “He doesn’t want to be my date. He’s a man — he has an ego. I think he’s probably working on music; I don’t think he cares [about watching the show].”
The pair were married for 10 years before confirming their split last year.
The actress also caused controversy when she said “I basically starve myself for a month” when asked about how she achieved her “22-inch waist”.
She quickly admitted the comment was a joke, however, and put it down to doing an “immense amount of Pilates”.
While admitting in 2013 that she didn’t like drinking as she didn’t like “feeling out of control,” the actress did open up to Jimmy Kimmel about a recent trip she went on with boyfriend Machine Gun Kelly.
Talking to the host on his TV show last week, Megan discussed her holiday to Costa Rica to take a psychoactive tea that is used as a spiritual medicine and can cause hallucinations.
“So I was thinking it was like glamping, like it was gonna be some kind of five-star experience,” she said.
“But you get there and you really are in the middle of the jungle, and you don’t get to eat after 1 pm.
“You have to walk a very far distance to get your water and you can’t shower because they’re in a drought.”
She continued. “… [There was] nothing glamourous about it and it’s all a part of making you vulnerable so you sort of surrender to the experience.”
She described how the experience lasted three nights and said it was “incredibly intense.”
“Everybody’s journey is different, but on the second night, I went to Hell for eternity,” she confessed.
