Strictly dancer Amy Dowden has opened up about being trolled for having her Covid vaccine early.
The star, 30, was jabbed ahead of most of her age group because she has inflammatory bowel condition Crohn’s disease.
Amy said of the trolling: “I was disappointed. It is just people typing without thinking.”
Amy, who has danced on the BBC show since 2017, has suffered from Crohn’s disease since the age of 11 but was not diagnosed until she was 19.
She said: “I had so many people tell when I got diagnosed, ‘Oh well it’s going to stop you dancing and I was a bit like: ‘How dare they?’
“It made me even more determined.”
Crohn’s has caused her “hundreds” of hospital visits, some with her Strictly co-stars supporting her.
Amy revealed: “Katya [Jones] has been in an ambulance with me.
“She stayed at hospital until 4am. Oti [Mabuse] also… she got herself in a car and came to the hospital until 11 o’clock at night, bless her.”
Of trolling generally, Amy said: “I am just worried about teenagers today, the kids in my dance school who are growing up in this social media age.
“There is more and more bullying now and something needs to be done.”
Amy is now busy launching an online workout for fans, explaining: “I am promoting body positivity.
“You want to be this perfect dancer’s body shape but for me, I am happy whatever shape or size I am.”
