Liverpool Fans Attack And Shattered Real Madrid Team Bus On Way To Anfield

A window on Real Madrid’s team bus was shattered by a thrown object as the vehicle made its way to Anfield for the La Liga side’s Champions Leaguequarter-final second leg against Liverpool this evening.

While supporters are not allowed in the stadium for the game due to coronavirus-related guidelines, Canal Plus correspondent Sebastien Zany reported that Liverpool fans had thrown objects at the Madrid team bus, resulting in the smashed window seen in a video posted by the journalist on Twitter.

A spokesperson for Liverpool said in response to the incident: “We condemn unequivocally the actions that led to Real Madrid’s team bus being damaged during its arrival to Anfield this evening. It is totally unacceptable and [the] shameful behaviour of a few individuals.

“We sincerely apologise to our visitors for any distress caused. We will work together with Merseyside Police to establish the facts and identify those responsible.”

The victors of Madrid and Liverpool’s tie will take on Chelsea in the semi-finals of the Champions League after Thomas Tuchel’s men defeated Porto 2-1 on aggregate.
