Vannung University Found its way back to the UBA Division 1 After two years following a scintillating Display on Friday as Nigeria Born Gabriel Humphery “Gabee” hit another double on the way to another century win for the Lions as they dispatched Hsign Wu University 108-72
Vanung Missed out on getting promoted in 2019/2020 by losing with just 1 point in the last 8 and this time around Coach Ben Sim was not ready to take any chances, they extended their Winning Streak to 13 and century wins to 7 in the process.
Right From the Tip-Off, Vannung were charged with resurrecting the championship fortunes of the University that had seen that shine fade in the aftermath of the drop in 2018/2019.
Gabeee Won the Tip-Off but it was Hsign Wu University that drew the first blood hitting 3 points after Vannung Failed attempts at the other end.
Hsign WU Extended their lead to 8-5 inside the first 4 minutes before Gabee took the game by the horn and inspired his teammates back with 2 blocks, 2 assists, and a 3 point to overtake Hsign 12-8 within 2 minutes.
Vannung Went on to lead the first quarter 21-13
The Second Quarter was an end to end stuff, as both sides took the game to each other, but the scar of last year’s defeat at this stage was obviously in Gabee’s Mind as he replicated his all-round play that saw Vannung Sting out Taiwan University 103-53 the Previous Day. Vannung Extended their Lead by 20 points going into the break 54-34.

Vannung Returned in the Second half and never took their foot off the pedal as they continued to take the game to Hsing Wu. Gabee, Xin Wei, and Jay West Continued to fire on all cylinders and by the end of the 3rd Quarter, the lead had extended to 84-49.
WIth Qualification Looking Secured Coach Ben Cim Rotated his Squad resting Gabee, Jay West and Xin Wei, Hsing Wu Fought hard to win the last quarter 23-22 but it was too little too late as Vannung Seals their ticket to the Elite Division of the UBA with a 108-72 win.
Gabee Finished the match as the top scorer with 24 points 12 Rebounds, 6 Steals, and 3 Blocks, Wang Xin Wei dropped 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 Assists while Jay West churn in 14 points 6 rebounds, and 2 Assists.
Vannung University will take on National Taiwan University in the Semi-Finals on Saturday with the finals scheduled for Sunday.
