Nigerian Actor and politician, Yul Edochie, recently took to his social media page to berate those who are always quick to mock the ‘Igbo accent’.
He made a case that people from other parts of the world don’t get mocked by Nigerians for their accents but when it comes down to ”An Igbo Brother” speaking, it’ll be regarded as “Igbotic”.
His tweet reads;
The Chinese man speaks English with a Chinese accent.
Same with the Italian, etc.
But you’re cool with it cos they are white.
Then your Igbo brother will speak his English with Igbo accent.
And you laugh at him, ‘oh he’s too Igbotic’.
Is he supposed to be Portuguese?
