Former Super Eagles skipper John Mikel Obi was in action for Stoke City in their 1-0 win over Derby County in an EFL Championship clash at the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday.

The former Chelsea man played a key role in the match and his experience was vital as the Potters secured the hard-fought win to end a difficult week.

Mikel was present in the middle of the park, protecting the back four and covering the holes behind the attackers as well.

Nick Powell set up Jacob Brown for the winning goal for Stoke City in the 74th minutes of the encounter.

Although the Potters have been struggling in front of goal, they were able to keep their third clean sheet in six games.

Mikel who retired from international football back in 2019 featured for the entire duration of the match.

The three points moved Stoke City to 11th on the log with 52 points.
