Oyo Sports Boss Reassures Festival Team of Total Supports

Oyo State Commissioner for Youths and Sports Hon Seun Fakorede has reassured Oyo state athletes of the state’s total support ahead for the EDO 2020 National Sports Festival.

The 20th National Sports Festival tagged Edo 2020 has been moved to April from the planned February 14 kick-off. The sports fiesta which has been postponed thrice in the past year will now hold in April.

According to Hon. Fakorede, who became the youngest commissioner in Nigeria’s history at age 27 spoke to Sports247.ng that athletes are presently training hard at various venues due to the renovation work going on at Lekan Salami Sports Complex.

“As you know that the stadium is under renovation, our athletes are training hard in various fields. Some at the Awolowo stadium, indoor sports hall, and many other places. we are ready for the festival.”

He also reassured the sports-loving people of the state that his team will surpass the feat recorded during the 2012 National Sports Festival in Lagos state.

“Our previous records have been wonderful, this coming edition won’t be different. We shall do everything humanly possible to make the athletes happy and post good results when the festival starts.”

Meanwhile, no date has been picked for the Festival but athletes believed the fiesta will hold before Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
