Britney Spears releases new song in honor of her 39th birthday

On Britney Spears’ birthday, we’re the lucky ones.

In honor of the pop sensation’s 39th year on this planet, RCA Records has posted a previously unreleased song called “Swimming in the Stars.”

Recorded as part of Spears’ most recent project, 2016’s “Glory,” the track is available on streaming services and can be purchased as part of a limited-edition vinyl exclusively sold at Urban Outfitters, reported Variety.

“So let’s go / Swimming in the stars tonight,” the lyrics go. “Oh, and we’ll glow, and shimmer in diamond lights / We’ll dive in head first, all the way down / In gravity’s arms we’ll drown / The world is ours, when we’re swimming in the stars / When we’re swimming in the stars.”

“Glory” was re-issued in May of this year. It included another relatively new song, “Mood Ring,” which was included as a bonus track in Japan during the album’s original release. The track shot to No. 1 on iTunes, crashing the launch of Lady Gaga’s “Chromatica.”

The “Circus” singer, who was born on Dec. 2, 1981, flew to Hawaii two weeks ago to celebrate her special day early. Today she ushered in her actual birthday with boyfriend Sam Asghari, posting cute pics to Instagram with him. “Happy b-day to me,” Spears wrote.

Although she’s happy today, the star received unfortunate legal news last month. A judge declined to remove her father as the head of her conservatorship. “My client has informed me that she is afraid of her father,” her lawyer said in court. “She will not perform again if her father is in charge of her career.”
