Ogun: Three youths in court for allegedly assaulting Gov Abiodun’s Chief Press Secretary, others

Three youths were on Friday arraigned before an Abeokuta Magistrate Court for allegedly beating up the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Dapo Abiodun, Kunle Somorin and some other appointees of the governor, DAILY POST reports.

It was learnt that the incident occurred on Tuesday when Gov Abiodun had an interactive session with youths in Ogun as part of activities marking the maiden edition of the National Youths Day celebration at June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta.

The youths were reported to have inflicted injuries on Somorin’s head for reasons unknown. He was immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment.

However, three of the suspects were reportedly arrested.

On Friday, the three, who were identified as Wale Dada, Shina Adeshina and Taiwo Coker, appeared before the court.

They were charged with “assault occasioning harm and malicious damage.”

The suspects, DAILY POST learnt, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.

They had denied being responsible for the attack on the appointees of the Ogun State governor.

Meanwhile, the court, while adjourning the case till November 26, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
