Strictly Come Dancing star Clara Amfo experienced an unexpected wardrobe malfunction during her dance tonight (October 31), as the hem of her skirt ripped mid-performance.
The BBC Radio 1 DJ and her professional dance partner Aljaž Škorjanec were performing a Viennese Waltz to ‘You Don’t Own Me’ by SAYGRACE in tonight’s live episode when Clara ran into trouble with her outfit.
Partway through the routine, the piece of tulle hanging from the hem of Clara’s skirt got caught in her shoe, causing a small stumble – but she managed to keep going without any further issues.
Host Tess Daly told Clara that she had “carried on like a pro” through the disruption, with Clara saying that she and Aljaž had “pushed on through”.
And the incident didn’t seem to impact on her scores, with judge Motsi Mabuse saying: “When I watch you dance, you give me the kind of energy where nothing can tear you down”, and Shirley Ballas calling the routine “lovely”.
Viewers at home didn’t react quite as calmly as Clara did, with many taking to Twitter to praise how well she handled the situation considering that she performed the rest of the dance with a piece of fabric trailing behind her:
