Two young girls aged ten and one have lost their parents after a horrific head-on car crash with a “drug” driver in a van.
Robert Bateman, 36, and wife Paula, 25, died at the scene on Thursday night September 4, in Cambridgeshire, UK.
Their two daughters Lexi, 10, and Elizabeth, 18-months, were both in the car during the horrific crash and were rushed to hospital.
Although Lexi suffered serious injuries, both kids have now been discharged.
Bob and Paula’s family said in a heartfelt tribute posted on social media: “We are utterly devastated by this news.
“Bob and Paula were much-loved friends to many and will be missed by everyone who knew them.
“They were also utterly devoted parents. Bob was a much-loved son and father, while Paula was a much-loved daughter, sister and mother.”
According to Police, the driver of the van has been previously arrested on suspicion of two counts of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.
Police also say the 32-year-old driver from Lincoln, failed a roadside drugs wipe and suffered minor injuries following the crash and is now in custody at Thorpe Wood Police Station in Peterborough.
