Delta State Government has denied multiple reports that the American woman who died on Sunday in a hotel room in Osubi, Okpe Local Government Area, die of coronavirus.
Mordi Ononye, the state Commissioner for Health, made this known in a statement on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the woman’s test results and that of her male friend turned out negative.
It was earlier reported that the American was in Nigeria to see her male friend.
It was learned that the man took the woman’s corpse to the Orerokpe Police Station. He was then taken to the Isolation Unit, Central Hospital Warri, for fear he could have the virus.
The commissioner, however, advised residents to comply with the government’s directives on precautionary measures to curtail the spread of the coronavirus.
