In any case, sources from the Government circles told our journalist that the Task Force had raged the market situated along the Enugu – Port Harcourt interstate after refusal of the merchants to comply with government mandate on the lockdown.
They said that while they were attempting to implement the requests, some criminals accepted to be brokers in the market assembled and assaulted the authorities, harming their vehicles and harming some of them.
Change Committee Chairman, Osisioma Ngwa LGA, Dr. Ikechukwu Nwabeke, said the group had visited the market in the organization of the director Task Force on COVID – 19, Dr. Solomon Ogunji, to sharpen the dealers on the need to conform to government order.
He anyway said they were defied by punks who began crushing the windscreen of vehicles in the escort of the taskforce.
He excused reports that the team wrecked the merchants’ product as bogus and encouraged the dealers to follow the request to close markets to their greatest advantage.
“How could the taskforce crush the merchandise of the brokers when it was not even on implementation? We had visited different markets without episodes. What happened was that some punks joined the dealers to assault the team.
“They couldn’t let the team address them. We left the territory until the security showed up. Along these lines, there is no reality in any dealer disclosing to you that the team demolished their products,” Nwabeke said.
Ogunji,disclosed that a portion of the hooligans who were captured by the Police have been summoned and cautioned that the individuals who resist the administration request would confront the rage of the law.
Magistrate for Trade and Investment, Cosmos Ndukwe, in an announcement, stated: “We have seen with incredible consternation that in spite of the lockdown request, a few markets in the State have carried on organizations as normal in all out dismissal to government orders.
“Administration of business sectors over the State are by this declaration reminded that the State Committee on authorization of the lockdown request will move round business sectors consequently.
“While the Ministry is focused on joining the battle against this worldwide pandemic, it will deliver proper disciplinary measures to initiative of business sectors that defy the request on conclusion of business sectors.
“For the evasion of uncertainty, all business sectors in the state must be shut during the time of the lockdown and defaulters will just have themselves to fault.
“If it’s not too much trouble remain sheltered and close our business sectors to forestall the spread of coronavirus.”
