Less than 24 hours after he appointed him into the board of Kaduna State Investment Promotion Authority, Governor Nasir El-Rufai has named former Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II as the chancellor of Kaduna State University.
Elrufai’s spokesman Muyiwa Adekeye made this known in a statement made available to media houses on Wednesday.
The statement reads; “On behalf of the government and people of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai is delighted to appoint His Highness, Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Chancellor of the Kaduna State University,”.
“In public life, His Highness has demonstrated a strong commitment to education.”
Kano State Government, on Monday, dethroned Mr Sanusi ll and banished him to Nasarawa State. The government has since appointed former Emir of Bichi, Aminu Ado Bayero, as his successor.
On Tuesday, A B Mahmoud, counsel to Mr Sanusi ll, gave the state government a 24-hour ultimatum to release the deposed emir from illegal detention or face legal action.
