About 50 people have been reportedly killed over the weekend by unknown gunmen in Kerawa, Rago, Marina, Zariyawa, Hashimawa, and Unguwar Barau villages, all of Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to reports, the bandits attacked the villages and settlements in retaliation for the recent raid on their hideouts by security forces.
It is a pity that the killings spared no one including pregnant women, old women and children.
The Nigeria Police Force in Kaduna have confirmed the occurrence of the incident but have not made the actual figure of casualty known yet.
Spokesman for the police in Kaduna, Muhammad Jalige, said a team comprising the commissioner has set out to the villages to assess the situation.
Hausa Service of the Voice of America said on Monday that about 50 persons were killed in the attack.
“If we start this funeral now, we will not finish till midnight. We saw a plane, but it just passed like it was flying to Makkah,” a source told the VOA.
“These killers are not just bandits, they are Boko Haram, they did not steal anything, they just killed and burnt peoples’ belongings.”
