Popular entrepreneur, Glory Osei, have finally bow to pressure from Nigerians on popular micro-blogging platform, Twitter to apologise for all her mistakes following allegations from her former workers that she is running a fraudulent company and maltreating their employees.
This is coming following her return to the social media giant on Saturday after incessant backlash.
Global Times gathered that on Friday, February 21, Osei, who was unable to handle the backlash which seems not to be stopping; resolves to deactivating her Twitter account.
Global Times recalls that in October 2019, the Chief executive of PorkMoney and Porkoyum alongside her husband, Muyiwa Folorunsho was carpeted online by some former employees of the company.
Osei in reaction to the accusations denied the allegations adding that “I am responding via an unofficial press release”.
But social media users further accused her of insulting Nigerians intelligence and also saying that there is nothing neither social media users nor her accusers can do to her.
However, in a series of tweets following her unexpected return to Twitter, Osei, apologized to social media users and her former employers adding that she will make ammendments where necessary.
Her tweets read in parts; “I am a Nigerian entrepreneur. I have made mistakes. I have tried to survive a very harsh environment, one made harder sometimes by the people I have sought to help me build. I apologise for all the hurt I have caused. I apologise if you saw me as beyond reproach. I am not.
“I can tell many tales about why I had to make certain decisions, why I had to fire certain people, I can go on and on, but unfortunately you would not understand. I wouldn’t too is I hadn’t walked this road I walk. We entrepreneurs fight everyday, don’t let the pictures fool you.
“I am not here to explain. Just to tell you to stop. Please. Stop. You are not just hurting me you are hurting the over 200 people that are working their asses off in our companies. You are destroying an industry, not just one woman, hundreds of people would be affected, hundreds.
“I have made many mistakes, but the truth is I have not made any of the decisions for which you have come to despise me so. But I would take the blame for being present when they were made. If I hurt you, I AM SORRY. My lesson is learnt. Please spare us. Let us be better.
“A lot of unfair things have been said, a lot of past mistakes have come up. I would some day go into details but today I say let it stop. Please. I am tired. I need to focus on building. I need to heal. My people need to heal. We have been working under water. Let us breathe.”
Osei who is said to be the Co-owner of Divergent Enterprise, the mother company to Landlagos, Shapeyou, 234logistics, Casual Becky, Porkoyum, Porkmoney, True Rebel and Hyberfactory, also insisted that she didn’t owe any of her former workers any salary.
“I dont owe anyone a salary. I pay my salaries ON TIME. It is so so sad that I have to emphasise this but this is how low you have all brought me. You wanted my humility, you have it. I do this not just for me, but for the hundreds of market women who now depend on my company to provide a better life for them through our product initiatives.
“I do this for our staff, for our farmers, for you. You can’t keep destroying value. It needs to stop. I am not the enemy, my real crime is perhaps making hard things look easy. Forgive me. It is hard. very hard,” the entrepreneur said.
Begging for support from her trolls, she continued; “I sold supplements as a 21 year old, what the hell did I know? Everyone was doing it, many of your pharmacies still are. Many of the people you respect still do. I am now creating real things and there are real lives involved. Your memes are not just memes. They have real consequence. I need you guys now. I need you to take that force and use it for good.
“You are powerful the lot of you, and now I need you to turn around all that you have done and help me build this industry I have been fighting tooth and nail for. The pork Industry.
“Again, I apologise. I humble myself before the vitriol of Nigerian twitter. I think it was misplaced, but you know what, I am tired of saying “the earth is round” at the wrong time. I have erred. You have exaggerated. Still, believe me when I say I am sorry. I am so very sorry.
Now. Can we build together? Can we take the tremendous energy you all have and use it to create something amazing? I would love for you all to be a part of my process. I would love to be able to share this with you.”
Osei further claimed that all the continuous attacks she keep receiving from social media users killed her pride; “Let it be said that in the later parts of last year I was the butt of your jokes, a well deserved accomplishment, but towards the end of this year the same crowd came together and built something amazing on the bones of my pride. Because my pride is dead, y’all killed it. No cap.”
“See me making another long thread. For my errors, again, I apologise. To those I owe therapy, I would gladly pay. You guys have a lot of power, there’s a lot of good we can achieve with that.
For now, accept my apology and watch me correct all I have broken,” she said.
